Irshad is a refugee born in Afghanistan and brought to theU.S. by the United Nations when he was a teenager. Irshad struggled to assimilate and found that there were no spaces for voices like his own. When he joined student government in college, he realized he could make an impact and began to focus his work on fighting to make spaces for unheard voices.
