IMMIGRANT JUSTICE PROJECT
The current focus of PLAN’s efforts is developing new strategies to promote access to justice for non-detained immigrant families in Maricopa County who are facing deportation. In January 2018, in partnership with the Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project, PLAN launched a new initiative to provide quality, free legal services to non-detained immigrants living in Maricopa County and/or with cases before the Phoenix Immigration Court. We currently have one full-time lead attorney and one legal assistant. PLAN strives to meet immigrant families where they are and where they feel safe and welcome. The PLAN attorney collaborates with grassroots organizations to provide individual legal consultations in the community. This initiative also partners with local organizations to co-create and co-present interactive community education workshops to fill legal knowledge gaps identified by the organizations.
